The University of Mumbai is a state university located in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India and was established on 18 July 1857. The University invites applications from eligible candidates for PhD Entrance Test 2012 (PET) for admission to its various PhD Programmes.

• Starting Date for receipt of Application Form: 22 March 2012
• Last Date for receipt of Application Form: 13 April 2012 (up to 2.30 pm)
• Date of the Entrance Test: 28 April 2012 (Saturday; 11 am to 2 pm)

Selection Procedure for admission in MU: Candidates will be selected on the basis of PhD Entrance Test (PET) 2012 which will be of 100 marks for the duration of three hours in the relevant subject of various faculties.

The question paper will consist of three types of questions viz – Objective – forty (40) marks, Short answers – thirty (30) marks and long answers – thirty (30) marks. Candidates securing fifty (50) or more marks in entrance test will be declared as successful and eligible to apply for admission process.

The Candidates can download the Application form and Prospectus from the official website http://www.mu.ac.in/. The duly filled application form along with the application fee should be send to the Thesis Section, Room No. 129, 1st Floor, Fort Campus, Fort, Mumbai – 400032

Application Fee: Rs 1000 (Rs 500 for Reserved Category). The fee needs to be drawn in favour of Finance & Accounts Officer, payable at Mumbai.
